FutureED Awards 2023

Future Boss Pre-Accelerator & Business Trip to Uganda 2022

I had the privilege of project managing the Future Boss Pre-Accelerator Programme which ran for 6 months and consisted of monthly mastermind sessions and took 20 Black Founders to Uganda for a week of learning about business on the continent. I was lucky to have joined the group on this trip and had a fantastic week ensuring things run smoothly.


Hostelworld World 20 Years Young Campaign

I had a lot of fun supporting the Hostelworlds 20 year anniversary campaign in 2019, which took over 15 individuals to 20 different countries, 20 days back to back, in 20 different hostels (check out the blog). I had the opportunity to join and host two of the parties, in Marrakesh and Venice!

Race & Football with Leon Mann.

We had the privilege of organizing an event where Leon Mann MBE, a highly respected and well-connected figure in the sports industry, served as Black Men For Changes esteemed guest speaker. The event took place on Tuesday, January 24th.

Leon, renowned for his roles as a broadcaster and film-maker for BBC Sport and ITV Sport, brought invaluable expertise and experience to the table. With an impressive portfolio of working alongside industry giants and serving as a consultant, Leon has made a significant impact. He is also recognized for his involvement in various organizations, such as the Black Collective of Media in Sport, Football Black List, and Sports People's Think Tank. Currently, he holds the position of vice chair of the Sports Journalists Association.

The focal point of Leon's talk was the crucial topic of Race and Football. The goal was to provide attendees with valuable insights into this important subject.


Young Black and Active: Learn from Joel Dunn, Raphael Sofaluke, and Christian Weaver

We organized the event "Young Black and Active" on March 7th for Black Men For Change. The event aimed to inspire and empower young Black men by providing them with insights and guidance from three influential keynote speakers and was hosted by Jermain Jackman.

Joel Dunn, the Founder and CEO of Paradigm Project, delivered a powerful speech. Drawing from his expertise in education and youth development, Joel shared valuable insights on creating positive change and supporting young individuals in their personal growth.

Raphael Sofaluke, an accomplished author and Founder and CEO of various influential initiatives such as the UK Black Business Show, UK Black Business Week, Birmingham Black Business Show, and Black Tech Achievement Awards, delivered an engaging talk. Raphael emphasized the significance of representation and highlighted how Black men can establish successful businesses and create opportunities for themselves and others.

Christian Weaver, an Author and Barrister at Garden Court North Chambers, as well as the Founder of The Law in 60 Seconds, shared his profound insights with the attendees. Christian's work as a lawyer and entrepreneur exemplified his dedication to empowering people with legal knowledge and assisting them in navigating complex legal systems.


The Power Of Our Black Vote and Voice: Voter ID, Activism and Protest

We organized the event "The Power of Our Black Vote and Voice: Voter ID, Activism, and Protest." On Wednesday, April 26th and hosted by Jermain Jackman. The event aimed to highlight the significance of the Black vote and encourage participants to utilize their voices for positive change.

One of the esteemed panellists was;

Dawn Butler MP, a powerful advocate for change and a Member of Parliament for Brent Central in the House of Commons.

Dr. Halima Begum, the Chief Executive of The Runnymede Trust, a renowned race equality think tank, also joined the panel.

Chantelle Lunt, the Founder and Chair of the Merseyside Alliance for Racial Equality, brought her wealth of experience in fighting for racial justice to the event.


Investing in Diversity: Lessons from Successful Black Women Entrepreneurs on Driving Progress

We organized the event "Inspiring Black and Active - Investing in Diversity: Lessons from Successful Black Women Entrepreneurs on Driving Progress". Tuesday 6th June 2023.🚀

The inspiring speakers include:

Izzy Obeng, Entrepreneur, and Business Coach is the Founder and CEO of Foundervine, an organisation focused on empowering diverse entrepreneurs.

Paula Groves is a tech entrepreneur, impact investor, and CIO and Founding Member of Impact X Capital Partners. This London-based venture capital firm invests in underrepresented entrepreneurs in Europe to deliver both social and financial returns.

Timi Okuwa is the Director of Partnerships & Programmes at Black Equity Organisation. Future 100 Growth Fund BEO and Sky’s £1 million partnership is backing Black entrepreneurs to grow & develop their own businesses in the UK.
